As if there were any doubts that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would sell fast, European high street retailer Carphone Warehouse has just issued a press release stating that the newly unveiled smartphone has received a record number of pre-registrations for a Galaxy handset.
The Carphone Warehouse is reporting four times the number of pre-registrations for the Galaxy S4 than it did with the Galaxy S3, which is an unprecedented growth rate. The Galaxy S4 looks like it could one of, if not the best selling handset of all time.
Even more impressively, the S4 figures were taken over a smaller period of time than those collected for the S3. The data used by Carphone Warehouse was taken from 25th – 30th April 2012 for the Galaxy S3 and compared with S4 pre-registration figures taken from 15th – 18th March 2013. Five days verses just three, and still the Galaxy S4 has managed to eclipse its predecessor.
This seems quite insane as no pricing information is confirmed yet on the Carphone Warehouse website. It must also be quite a worrying sight for Samsung’s competitors; considering that theXperia Z’s launch figures weren’t quite up to scratch and with the HTC One now delayed, it looks like Samsung could pull out even further in front.
Of course this doesn’t confirm any future sales figures, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly how popular Samsung’s new handset becomes.
